Champion effort as care home residents enjoy fun and games
Richmond House Care Home in Crieff did not let the pandemic get in the way of holding its very own Highland games on August 20.
Staff and residents held a spirited event with chieftain Colin Crawford officiating over shot put and welly tossing in the lounge.
Everyone had a giggle as staff battled to be the champs at the tug of war.
Stacy and Jo were the stronger pullers over Fiona and Lisa.
The activities included tossing the caber, welly and hammer throwing, shot put and a poster competition.
Judy Taylor won the best poster design, entered as part of the #KWIC design a poster competition and Senga Alexander won the shot put and hammer throw.
Nettie Chalmers won toss the welly and Wallace Wilson won toss the caber.
The Highland Games were followed by tea, shortbread and some Highland dancing.
Manager at Richmond House, Stacy Rodger, said:“What a great morning doing our own Richmond House Crieff Highland Games. A big thanks to our chieftain Colin Crawford.”
As an extra bit of fun residents also got decorated zimmer frames. The idea was taken from the PKC falls training that the staff had recently done.
Residents loved the idea and got straight to work. Wallace Wilson - previously a farm mechanic who was fantastic at fixing machinery - had his walker decorated to remind him of a blue Ford tractor, complete with his very own private number plate.
Senga Alexander is known for knitting “like it’s going out of fashion”and so hers was made of colourful wool and pompoms that she had knitted. Lizzie Walker, a keen gardener who is always out in the care home garden, decorated hers with some of her favourite flowers.
