Honour for Perthshire whisky
A Perthshire-based single malt whisky brand has been recognised with the highest honour for its‘dram’good flavour at a world-renowned awards ceremony.
Tullibardine’s 15-Year-Old bottle has been awarded with a double gold medal at the prestigious 2020 International Spirits Challenge.
The single malt, distilled after the reopening of the Blackford distillery in 2003, has been recognised in the competition’s 25th year.
The International Spirits Challenge is recognised as the world’s most authoritative, respected and influential spirits competition.
It receives more than 1700 entries from almost 70 countries each year.
Winners at the awards go through a rigorous judging process involving blind tasting by panels of more than 50 top industry professionals, before deciding whether the whisky is worth a double gold, gold, silver or bronze medal.
The Tullibardine 15-Year-Old“wowed” the expert judging panel with its range of aromas and flavours.
The taste is described by the firm as “delicate dried hay and Parma Violets, with touches of baked apple, cloves and vanilla ice-cream,”as well as“freshly baked scones with hints of strawberry jam and clotted cream, married with delicate spices leading to a finish of subtle nuttiness”.
Keith Geddes, master distiller at Tullibardine Distillery said:“The 15-YearOld really is a special whisky with an eclectic mix of flavours that complement perfectly and I’m pleased to hear that the judges clearly appreciated this.
“It’s a whisky that’s been carefully crafted by our talented and passionate team at our distillery using traditional artisan methods which includes using locally sourced spring water from Perthshire’s Ochil Hills.
“Attention to detail and the quality of the whisky we produce at Tullibardine is of paramount importance to us, so it’s brilliant to see this recognised once again at the International Spirits Challenge.”
Tullibardine is one of the few distilleries in Scotland to distil, mature and bottle all on site, giving the team complete control over the whisky distilling process.
