Hundreds of pounds of heroin seized

-

Police seized hundreds of pounds worth of heroin, along with a small quantity of cannabis, after obtaining a search warrant for a Perth man’s house.

The recovery of the class A and class B substances led to 56-year-old Michael Philbin, of Carnegie Place, being fined £500 at Perth Sheriff

Court.

He admitted being in possession of the drugs at his home on April 1, 2019.

The court was told that officers recovered 3.5 grammes of heroin, worth £350, and 0.4 grammes of cannabis, valued at £4.

Solicitor John McLaughlin said that his client had experienced a number of mental health issues and had been taking help from a substance misuse organisation.

Philbin was keen to see the return of a mobile phone police had also seized.

If it was not returned to him, he faced paying the phone company £1000.

Imposing the fine, Sheriff Gillian Wade told the accused:“You have a long history of substance misuse and a number of convictions for drugs convictions have resulted in custodial sentences.”

He will be paying the fine at £20 a week.
