Positive report for teen

-

A teenager who attacked his partner in a Perth flat while armed with a knife was given a positive report at his latest community payback order review.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that 18-year-old Owen Evans, now of Monteith Street, Crieff, had come to the end of his supervision period but still had some unpaid work to complete.

He was previously warned that if the order was not completed satisfactorily, he was“likely”to lose his liberty.

He had initially been given 100 hours of unpaid work, along with nine months’supervision, after he admitted assaulting a woman, whilst in possession of a blade, at a house in the city’s Newhouse Road on September 23, 2018.

He then repeatedly pushed her on the body and repeatedly seized her by the body.

A not guilty plea was accepted to a second charge of shouting and swearing at the female, punching a wall, stabbing a door with a knife, brandishing the weapon and making violent threats.

The accused had previously been put on the Right Track scheme, set up to steer youngsters away from a life of crime.

But Evans, formerly of Ancaster Way, Muthill, had failed to turn up to do the work on several occasions - and the order was subsequently breached.

Sheriff Gillian Wade gave him another chance to retain his liberty, imposing a fresh order and increasing the amount of unpaid work to 150 hours.

Noting the progress Evans had now made, Sheriff Wade said she was prepared to allow the new order to continue to its conclusion without any further checks on him.
