Climate cafeis giving away trees
Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Climate Cafe has a number of trees to give away to residents keen to do their bit to help tackle the climate emergency.
This is the second year in a row that the group of environmental campaigners has had free tree saplings to donate to community groups, schools or individuals who would like to plant trees in their local areas as part of the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback initiative.
The trees have been donated by energy company OVO, in collaboration with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), as part of an ambitious project which has already seen more than one million trees being planted across the UK.
All the trees are native deciduous, and some of the species of trees available this year include rowan, gean, hazel, willow, dogwood, field maple, birch and oak.
There are also many oak acorns to give away for those who want to grow their own.
To register an interest in receiving some of the trees, contact the Climate Cafe by sending an email to cctrees@ btinternet.com.
