Children can enjoy online bedtime stories

-

A new series of bedtime tales for kids has been launched online in the run up to Christmas.

Perth Baptist Church is offering the special festive treat - named Tales from the Storybook Shed - on itsYouTube channel.

The first one aired on December 6 with a different story released every second evening at 6pm through until December 22.

Gordon Kenney, responsible for the church’s online content, said:“Like most churches we have been broadcasting a weekly service since March, with a special kids Messy Church once a month.

“But we felt that this was the right time to do something special and focused for kids, giving them a whole bunch of stories and programmes just for them.

“Even although we can’t be physically together, we can all share online some of the true wonder of Christmas.”

The films were shot and edited by local film maker and photographer Les Dalziel.

“We wanted to make something that evoked that bedtime feel, that kids (or the whole family) could watch, just when it was time to settle for the night,”Les said.

“And the set design by Morna Strachan helped to do just that. Although we are online, it’s also important that our storytellers have been filmed reading a physical book.”

Andy McCully, D3 Audio and Visual technical director, looks after the live streams for the church.

He said:“It’s been great seeing so many different people taking part in our weekly services but, for this, we wanted to think about the kinds of things our own kids would want to watch, again and again, something that they could be entranced by.”

Details of other church services, which all remain onYouTube after broadcast, are as follows:

December 11 at 7pm - Remembrance service;

December 13 at 10.30am - Message of hope;

December 20 at 10.30am - Children’s nativity;
