Young carers rewarded for hard work thanks to Hydro

- PAUL CARGILL

Staff at Crieff Hydro Hotel took young carers for a special tour around the establishment’s Christmas attractions as a reward for all their hard work this year.

The youngsters were treated to a treasure hunt, a walk along a cartoon character trail and a visit to Santa’s grotto during their stay as well as cups of hot chocolate and a chance to sample some turkey and cranberry ice-cream.

Parts of this year’s character trail featuring the animated cast of films like The Gruffalo and Frozen were designed and created by carers from PKAVS as well as children and volunteers from Kids Week in Crieff (KWIC).

Hotel staff have chosen to rename the area around the character trail as Arendelle after the fictitious kingdom featured in the latter film.

General manager Kristian

Campbell remarked:“We always like to bring the magic of Christmas to Crieff Hydro and this year is no different with our outdoor illuminated walkways, Gruffalo and Frozen character trail, reindeers, Santa’s grotto and our vintage bus serving winter warmers and exclusive festive ice-cream flavours.

“It was fantastic to welcome Perth and Kinross Young Carers to experience our winter wonderland on opening day, their Frozen characters in the Victorian Garden look fantastic and are on display for everyone who visits this festive season to enjoy.”
