Warrant for drone accused

-

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man accused of flying a drone during the St Johnstone v Celtic Scottish Premiership match at Perth’s McDiarmid Park at the beginning of the year.

Forty-year-old David Colquhoun, of Mansel Street, Glasgow, was to have appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in connection with the charge, said to have taken place at the Crieff Road stadium on January 29.

But he failed to appear and an initiating warrant was issued for his arrest.

He is said to have been the“person in charge of a small unmanned surveillance aircraft”- and then flew it in the vicinity of the football ground while a match was taking place.

It is claimed that he flew it over pedestrians within the stadium and bus park - and landed it in the proximity of fans and vendor stalls.

The charge further alleges that he did not fly the craft in accordance with the terms issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.

His actions were also said to be contrary to the 2016 Air Navigation Order and the Civil Aviation Act, 1982.

The Wednesday evening game resulted in a 3-0 defeat for St Johnstone.
