Foodbank aid from Soaper Stars
Award-winning Perth car wash, Soaper Stars, has donated the equivalent value of their annual festive team meal out to the Perth and Kinross Foodbank.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, many local businesses will not be able to enjoy their usual celebrations around the Christmas period.
Instead, Ian Routledge, owner of the Inveralmond-based business and his team were determined to help in any way they could.
The Soaper Stars team donated a variety of items that the food bank was particularly in need of – the likes of coffee, instant mash and rice.
Ian said:“We believe we should all play our part to help local communities in need. Nobody should go hungry over the festive period, so we are delighted to support the food bank with a donation that we know will support families in need over Christmas.”
Michael Archibald, chairman of the Perth and Kinross Foodbank, was invited down to Soaper Stars to personally collect the donation and to enjoy a complimentary wash of the food bank van.
Michael commented:“On behalf of everyone at Perth and Kinross Foodbank, we are delighted to receive this donation of food from Soaper Stars car wash.
“We were touched when they contacted us to say they wanted to donate the value of their Christmas dinner to us and buy the items we are currently short of.
“Everyone has had a tough year, but we have witnessed many kind-hearted people thinking of those worse off than themselves, generously donating money and food to help local people in real crisis.”
The food bank is located at 11 Cutlog Vennel and remains open with social distancing measures.
They are encouraging anyone who wishes to make a donation in time for Christmas to do so by December 17.
Ian concluded:“We would like to encourage other small local business to also donate the value of their festive night out to the food bank this year.
“All donations are greatly appreciated by the food bank team and will go a long way to ensuring families don’t go hungry this Christmas.”
