Luncarty manager Robbie Holden reckons goalkeeper Mike Patton can only get better after an impressive start to the season.

Patton has made the step up from the amateur ranks and is a part of a Bleachers side which boasts the best defensive record in the league.

And Holden said:“Mike is young and still learning but he has a lot of potential.

“He has shown what he can do with some big saves.

“We need to remember he has taken a big step up and needs time and experience without putting him under too much pressure.

“The defensive record has been good. Despite a poorer showing against Glenrothes, our stats are still very good.

“It’s something we work on a lot in terms of the shape and it comes from the front.”

Luncarty were washed out of league action last Saturday but did get a friendly with Dundee North End arranged.

“We played a friendly on Saturday against Dundee North End and won 3-1,” Holden said.

“It was a good workout and an opportunity to use the full squad again.

“It’s frustrating this time of year with call-offs so we do expect a few more between now and March.”

Visiting Brownlands Park for Conference B action on Saturday is

Easthouses Lily, who sit eighth.

Holden said:“Easthouses have been gradually gaining momentum.

“They were unlucky against big spending Darvel in the cup and ran Dundonald close in the Scottish last week.

“We noticed them starting to climb the table and it’s a very difficult game for us, they are a big, strong team so a tough battle is in store.”

Kinnoull, meanwhile, are set to welcome Hawick Royal Albert Utd to Tulloch Park for league action.

Manager Alan Cameron said:“Hawick will be a test. Their league position does not reflect the performance levels they have been consistently producing.

“With a bit more luck in some games they would have picked up far more points, so we have to be aware of the threat they pose.

“It’s never easy at this time of year with fixtures being postponed left, right and centre but the boys have been training extremely hard and really putting the work in.”
