Kids roped in for skipping fundraiser

-

Balhousie Primary School pupils braved the elements to give their hearts a workout in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

The keen kids practised their skipping skills for a number of weeks in the run up to their school Skip-A-Thon, which took place on November 30.

The school was“overwhelmed” with the generosity of families, friends and neighbours of the school who helped raise £900.

The donations will help benefit both the national charity and the school’s own funds.

Thanks went to local businesses Fireplaces Direct and Graham’s Fire Protection who also supported the event by buying every P1-7 pupil a skipping rope to take home and keep.

P1 teacher and organiser Mrs Lianne Gibb said:“In these pressing times we know that charities have taken a hit, but our caring school community is keen to help those in need.

“By choosing a skipping theme, we’ve managed to improve our children’s understanding of healthy hearts and show that simple fuss-free exercise like skipping can improve our life chances.

“Back to the good old days of skipping in the playground has been a hit with boys and girls alike. It’s been fabulous to see everyone having so much fun outdoors.”
