Scone kids delighted to receive early Christmas present

-

Christmas came early for Scone Thistle 2009s.

Not only did the boys recently receive their new away kit from main sponsors A&J Stephen, they also got new nine-a-side goals just in time for their derby and last match of the year.

Coach Kerr Smith said: “2020 has been very challenging and a tough year for everyone but for Scone Thistle it has finished on a high.

“A great example of partnership working resulted in a joint funding bid to purchase nine-a-side goals which were required to complete the club’s facility pathway for small-sided teams.

“Scone Thistle’s Quality Mark Community Club status gave them access to a £500 contribution from East Region SFA.

“Gavin Tinley, SFA development officer, went a step further and reached out to the Scottish Football Partnership who also matched Gavin’s donation with an additional £500 contribution.

“With over 50 per cent of the cost covered, new goals were now within the club’s grasp. Two weeks from placing our initial request for financial support the new goals arrived which was an amazing achievement all round.”

Special thanks went to Andrew Milne of Scone Thistle Community Club, as well as Stephen Shiels, Steph Gilmore, John Smith and Zane Smith for their effort building the goals.
