Racial remarks charge denied

A Carse of Gowrie man has denied making racial remarks and then attacking another man said to be a tenant on his property.

Alexander Baptie (50), of Murrayacre, St Madoes, will return to Perth Sheriff Court for trial on July 26.

He had an earlier preliminary hearing fixed for July 1 and was freed on bail.

It is alleged that on November 13, 2020, at the Dundee-Perth road, and on the unclassified road leading to Walnut Grove, west of the junction with the A90, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing and uttering racial remarks.

A second charge, also denied, claims that at the unclassified road leading to Walnut Grove, Baptie assaulted Pawel Ustianowski by kicking him on the body and repeatedly punching him on the head and body, to his injury.

A special bail condition was imposed on the accused, banning him from approaching or contacting the alleged assault victim meantime.
