Charged withPC attacks

-

A 28-year-old Perth woman was freed on bail after appearing from custody at the sheriff court this week on charges of attacking two police officers in her home.

Kaya Stewart, of Craigie Road, also denied a third charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, likely to “cause a reasonable person fear or alarm,” while being taken to Dundee Police HQ.

Represented by Perth lawyer David Holmes, she will face trial on August 3.

An earlier court date was scheduled for July 15.

It is alleged that on December 28, at her house, Stewart assaulted PC Kathryn Knox by repeatedly punching her on the body.

She is then said to have bit PC Christopher McInnes on the body and struck him on the groin with her knee.

A final charge claims that the same day, while in a vehicle in the course of a journey from Craigie Road to Dundee, the accused repeatedly shouted and swore, adopted an aggressive demeanour and made violent threats towards police.
