Bike champ can’t wait to visit stone

Beaumont’s delight

-

the stone was nowhere near ready and it was ruled out despite a 7000-signature petition.

The stone, said to be the coronation stone for Scots kings, was taken by Edward I in 1296 and removed to Westminster Abbey.

Speaking in 2019, Mr Forsyth told the PA of his desire for the stone to go to Scone in 1996 if possible.

He also supported the proposal to take it to Perth, saying: “I have seen the consultation documents and seen the proposal put forward by Perth and Kinross Council.

“It seems to me that it meets the criteria in terms of both security and also in providing a facility that will give what is a very important piece of our history the representation and display it deserves.”
