Positive beginnings for young people in the region
Perth sports charity PHysical has announced the start of an exciting new programme.
Young Start-Positive Beginnings will work with partners Perth Strathtay Harriers and Perth and Kinross Disability Sport, while support is also in place from organisations including The National Lottery Community Fund.
The programme aims to empower young people aged between 14-24 with a physical, learning or sensory disability in Perth and Kinross.
Working on developing confidence, leading activities, connecting with their peers and gaining qualifications, training and life skills are all included in the programme.
Initial applications have now been processed with the first cohort of young people ready to embark on the journey. Each has been allocated a local sports mentor to support them to achieve their own individual goals during this time.
Participants are Alex Medley (boccia), Ben Leitch (wheelchair basketball), Cadyn Thomson (wheelchair basketball), Corey Fair (football), Freya Howgate (athletics), Graeme Baxter (athletics), Matthew Doig (athletics) and Wiktoria Mucha (athletics).
