Historic assault trial off until end of March

Lack of court time has forced the postponement of a trial in which a Perth man faces historic assault and breach of the peace charges involving his partner.

Forty-eight-year-old Allan Grant Davidson, of May Place, North Muirton, has denied a total of five offences, one said to have taken place in the run-up to Christmas more than 15 years ago.

During another alleged incident in the Mallard Bar, on the same housing estate, he is said to have grabbed a fire extinguisher, raised it above his head and charged at his girlfriend.

He will now face trial at Perth Sheriff Court on March 30 after the planned December proceedings were put off because of other business.

The first incident is claimed to have taken place at the Auld Hoose Bar, in Perth’s South Street, and at the Leonard Street taxi rank, on December 21, 2004.

It is alleged that Davidson shouted and swore, acted in an aggressive manner and made violent threats and offensive remarks towards his partner and two other females.

It is then claimed that he seized hold of his partner, pulled her out of a taxi and committed a breach of the peace.

A second charge alleges that on one occasion between January 1, 2007, and October 12, 2010, at a flat in Perth’s Balhousie Street, he conducted himself in a disorderly manner by repeatedly driving past the house and repeatedly going there uninvited.

He is further accused of knocking on the door, shouting and swearing, demanding entry and making abusive remarks towards his partner and another two women.

Davidson denied a third charge of spitting at one of the females on one occasion at the Balhousie Street property between January 1, 2007, and October 12, 2010.

A fourth charge alleges that one time between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008, at the Mallard Bar, Argyll Road, Perth, he assaulted his partner by throwing a pool ball at her and attempting to strike her on the body with it.

He is then said to have grabbed hold of a fire extinguisher, raised it above his head, and ran at his partner.

Thereafter, he is accused of seizing her on the body and causing her to fall to the ground.

The final charge claims that once, between January 1 and June 1, 2014, at a house in May Place, Davidson pushed his partner on the body, causing her to strike a bannister, before seizing her by the throat and pushing her to the ground, where she struck her head.

It is claimed that he seized her by the throat again and pulled her to her feet, causing her to strike a young child.

Davidson had his bail continued meantime.
