Perth and Kinross runners only have a couple of days left to sign up for a virtual Scottish Athletics event.

The Lindsays Virtual Road Challenge has been scheduled to take place from January 8-11, with entries closing on Thursday.

Entries are available online and are open to runners from the under-11 category right through to seniors and masters.

Race distances range from 1.5km for the under-11 group up to 8km for the seniors and masters athletes.

The event is set to be the latest to take place amid the coronavirus pandemic and participants are being asked to observe solo run rules.

A Scottish Athletics spokesperson said: “With a view to social distancing regulations, we revert to the original rules we had in place for virtual road challenges early last summer – which means athletes running on their own.

“Group runs supervised by a coach (at a track, for example) are now not acceptable under the tier four rules and that covers Scotland.

“Athletes should also complete their run as close to home as possible and not be travelling from one local authority area to another in order to run.”

Visit the Scottish Athletics website to enter and for further information about the event.
