Bleachers hope to build on strengths
Luncarty manager Robbie Holden is looking forward to watching the club grow further this year.
The Bleachers made the move to the East of Scotland League in 2020 and have made a good impression in the Conference B.
While the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the footballing landscape, Holden is positive Luncarty can go from strength to strength in 2021.
“2020 was a difficult year for everyone,” he said. “As well as the effects the pandemic had on everyone, from a footballing perspective it has been disruptive.
“Facilities have been closed and those that are open have reduced times, so training has been very difficult.
“But our players have performed very well and put us in a strong position for the remainder of the season.
“We have made strides forward as a club and I’m looking forward to seeing more progress on and off the park.
“We were very pleased with the start we made and if we can put that type of run together again then it will be interesting to see where we end up.”
Luncarty were meant to be facing off with local rivals Kinnoull at Brownlands Park on Saturday. But recent snow and heavy frost resulted in another postponement.
Holden said: “We gave the boys the day off to enjoy the break. The weather conditions haven’t been ideal but a lot of them have been doing their own work anyway.
“I think the fixtures will be backing up now so it’s likely, as always happens, we will be playing a couple of games a week. We have a squad to cope with that and I’d expect to use it over the next few months.”
Jeanfield Swifts were penned in to travel to Sauchie in the Premier Division on Saturday but their fixture was also called off.
