Woman accused oftrying tosteal toddler

A woman made a brief appearance in private at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon (Thursday) charged with attempting to steal a three-year-old child from a house in the Hillyland area of the city.

Thirty-seven-year-old Marie Calikes, of Sauchie Terrace, Crieff, made no plea and her case was continued for further inquiries.

Represented by local lawyer Pauline Cullerton, she was freed on bail but special conditions were imposed.

She has been banned from approaching the child’s mother or the youngster or entering an area of the city.

It is alleged that on May 4, 2020, she attempted to steal the toddler from the house.

Bail was granted by Sheriff Neil Bowie.
