Man accused of having knife and bolt cutters
A Perthshire man was remanded in custody to await trial on charges of being in possession of a knife - and a pair of bolt cutters - when he appeared via video link at the sheriff court this week.
Thomas Brown (27), of Greenbank
Road, Glenfarg, will face trial on February 1. An earlier preliminary hearing will take place on January 14.
Represented by Perth lawyer David Holmes, he denied having the blade in a car on the A90 Dundee-Perth road on October 5, 2020.
It is also alleged that on the same road, at Inchmichael, he had the bolt cutters in circumstances that it might reasonably be inferred he intended to commit theft.
The charge also indicated that Brown was unable to demonstrate his possession of the tool was not for the purpose of committing theft.
The prosecution objected to bail and he was remanded in custody meantime.
Brown admitted flouting a 7pm-7am curfew imposed at Dundee Sheriff Court on October 15, 2020, by being outwith his home between these times on November 28, 2020.
Sentence on that charge was deferred by Sheriff Neil Bowie until January 14.
