- Laura Muir claimed a new British record for the women’s 1000m while competing at the Diamond League in Monaco.

- Golfer Daniel Young made his first European Tour cut at the Wales Open and wanted it to be the catalyst for more.

- Sixteen-year-old Perthshire golfer Gregor Graham teed-up at the prestigiou­s British Amateur Championsh­ip.

SEPTEMBER

- After much deliberati­on with long-term coach Ann Dickson, Perth’s Stephen Milne joined the renowned programme of senior swimmers at Stirling University.

- Andrew Jowett expressed his pride after being named Gleneagles’ new head of golf.

- Salle Ossian Fencing Club coach Phil Carson noted that members Kate Daykin, Jess Corby and SJ Hampson are in with a “realistic chance” of competing at the Olympic Games in 2024.

- Perthshire curler Mili Smith enjoyed a successful first competitiv­e outing with Team Aitken, winning the September Shoot-out event.

- Callum Davidson gave his backing to St Johnstone’s goal-shy strikers after a quiet spell in the forward department.

- Crieff and Strathearn RFC appointed a new director of rugby. Kieran Burrows took up the role.

OCTOBER

- Local ice hockey talent Harry Elder was invited to trial for the under-18 Great Britain squad.

- Rory Skinner was crowned the youngest ever winner of the British

- Saints announced the signing of Israeli striker Guy Melamed. He had to quarantine due to the pandemic.

- There was double delight for Perth Strathtay Harriers at the online Scottishat­hletics’ awards night. Alan Erickson was named Club Coach of the Year while the Harriers also won the Janice Eaglesham Para Developmen­t Club of the Year prize.

- Cadyn Thomson was the first representa­tive from Perth and Kinross on the Scottish Disability Sport Young Persons’ Sports Panel.

- St Johnstone WFC’s Rebecca McGowan scored a stoppage time winner to defeat Stirling Uni as the new season kicked off.

- Fair City basketball player Andrew Richardson was shooting for Great Britain honours at Masters level.
