Tragic deaths at COVID outbreak care home
A number of residents at a Perth care home have died following a COVID outbreak.
A 98-year-old man passed away at Craigieknowes Care Home in Perth on Monday after contracting the virus.
Craigieknowes caters for nearly 50 residents as well as residents with disabilities and say it is company policy not to confirm how many COVID-19 cases there are at its care homes. It is understood no more than nine have potentially died from the virus at the Four Seasons-run care home this month.
NHS Tayside has said no incident management team from the health board has been sent to address the coronavirus outbreak.
Care Inspectors had previously labelled the care home management’s COVID measures as ‘weak’ following a visit last October.
They were marked down for not providing enough PPE stations and those set up in a toilet and a laundry store were deemed at “risk of cross-contamination”.
