Man arrested on drug charges after city fire
A man has been arrested after a cannabis cultivation was allegedly found during follow-up enquiries into a blaze at a Perth takeaway.
Officers reported the discovery having returned to the scene the day after a fire broke out at the Elrasheed D’Lite kebab shop on Sunday evening.
Eleven people across seven households were forced from their homes, with one sent into temporary accommodation after“significant”damage was inflicted on their property.
Six fire appliances attended the scene and managed to douse the flames.
It has been confirmed the fire was not started deliberately.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:“Following a fire in Scott Street, Perth, on Sunday, January 10,2021, officers executed a drugs warrant on Monday, January 11, 2021, at a neighbouring property and a 32-year-man has been arrested in connection with drugs offences. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
