The SWI Zoom Christmas Party took place on December. 17 Numbers were lower than usual due to ill health or unexpected circumstances.

The ladies did justice to the occasion by wearing seasonal outfits – Ginnie Wilkie wore her Christmas pudding jumper and Carol McGill her elf outfit.

Carol’s demonstration was most enjoyable, practical and very effective. It added a new dimension to flower arranging. She created floral arrangements with a difference - showing roses submerged in water, using tubular containers which magnified the blooms. The submerged flower arrangement was created using a metal pin holder, using only three flower heads with very short stems pushed into the metal prongs of the pin holder. It was simple and very effective, and excellent for a table display.

Everyone enjoyed the demonstration and look forward to trying it out once dinner parties are on the menu again.

The ladies also shared a couple of recipes for quick desserts which were very useful for the Christmas season.

There were two keen quizzers at the meeting – Ginnie Wilkie and Betty Stark had both completed the Christmas Quiz. Betty won with 54 points followed closely by Ginnie with 52 points. Well done ladies!

President Kathleen Scott shared the information that the Federation AGM agreed not to hold a Spring Show in 2021 or to participate in the Perth Show in August 2021. Instead, it is hoping to arrange a large fund-raising event in the lead up to Christmas to replace the shows and they is hoping all our efforts can be channelled into this.
