Jailedfor shoplifting andbeing abusive

Perth man Stephen Strain was jailed for a total of six months this week on a series of shoplifting charges and one of acting in an abusive manner.

The 39-year-old, of Culliven Court, was told at Perth Sheriff Court there was “no alternative to custody.”

He admitted stealing cosmetics from Sally Beauty, South Street, Perth, on July 29, 2020; taking candles from Tesco’s Crieff Road store on April 21, 2020; and helping himself to alcohol at Aldi, on the Inveralmond Industrial Estate, seven days later.

He also shouted and swore and made offensive and disablist remarks at a neighbour’s house in Culliven Court on September 3 last years.

The incident was aggravated by prejudice relating to disability and he was on bail at the time.
