What a fantastic idea to create a lasting tribute to actor Andy Gray in Perth (PA, January 22).
I noticed in the same edition that a tribute to Ewan MacGregor was set to be put up in Crieff - well, if it’s good enough for Ewan, than it should be good enough for Andy.
Ewan may be a Hollywood star - and certainly worthy of the mural that has been created - but Andy was also a star in the eyes of many, and still lived in the area.
I found Colin McCredie’s stories in
Friday’s PA a delight. Like Andy, I was born in Glasgow and have gone on to make Perthshire my home.
I remember seeing Andy on stage in Glasgow on a number of times and I was a big fan of City Lights.
While a statue on South Street may not be realistic, I see no reason why other tributes cannot be looked at, especially in the area around Perth Theatre.
Finally, my thoughts go out to Andy’s family. He was a true Scottish national treasure.
