Man to return to court in March to face trial
A man, caught driving on the A9 with more than three times the legal booze limit, was put off the road at Perth Sheriff Court last week.
Forty-seven-year-old Christopher Dawson will discover how long his disqualification will last when he returns to court on March 30.
He will face trial that day on three other charges, including one of attacking two women, one of whom later lost consciousness.
The accused, of St Cedd, Ballinluig, admitted driving a car with excess alcohol on the unclassified Weem-Strathtay road, at Aberfeldy, on January 11, 2020.
His reading was 71 microgrammes, well in excess of the maximum of 22.
He also had a not guilty plea accepted to a further charge of failing to co-operate with a preliminary breath test.
He denied that on January 11, 2020, at a chalet on the Glengoulandie Chalet Park, Foss, near Pitlochry, he assaulted a woman by repeatedly punching her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground, whereby she was rendered unconsciousness. Dawson is then said to have repeatedly punched her on the head and body, to her injury.
A further charge alleges that the same day, at the chalet, he assaulted his partner by repeatedly punching her on the head, to her injury.
A third charge claims that he acted in an aggressive manner, shouted and swore and uttered offensive remarks.
Represented by solicitor Jamie Baxter, the accused had his bail continued meantime. The background to the drink/ driving charge will be given in March.
