Region put on high alert for heavy snow

Communities in Perth and Kinross face being cut off while drivers could be left stranded as the region braces itself for heavy snow over the weekend.
The Met Office issued an amber warning for the region - the second highest alert level.
It will run until 6am on Saturday, February 6 having started yesterday afternoon. Residents are being warned to prepare for “significant disruption to transport and utilities”.
The Met Office says communities could be cut off for several days due to the snow, while interruptions are expected to power supplies and other services, such as gas, water, and telephone and mobile services. Roads may become blocked by deep snow, with many stranded vehicles and passengers.
Long delays on bus, rail and air travel could also occur.
Yellow warnings for snow and ice is also in place for the region until late on Monday night.
