Callum delighted about on-loan deal with Dons

-

St Johnstone striker Callum Hendry has been sent on loan to fellow Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.

The 23-year-old, who still has one year remaining on his Saints contract, had been struggling for game-time in Perth.

Manager Callum Davidson was open to the option of Hendry making a temporary switch – if it was going to benefit his development.

Few would have predicted a move to the

Dons but their boss Derek McInnes was keen to acquire the services of the talented forward.

Hendry said:“Game time is all I’m looking for now because I know that once I bang in the first goal, they’ll start to flood in like they did last season.

“I’m moving with a point to prove, to myself as much as anyone.

“I want to hit the ground running and deliver what it is the manager says he’s looking for from me.”

Deadline day proved a hectic one for Hendry, who added:“I trained as usual in the morning and then I got calls from the manager here and at St Johnstone when I got home.

“From there, I jumped in the car and made my way up north and I’m really excited to be here.”

Hendry made his debut for the Dons on Tuesday evening, coming off the bench just before half-time.

But it wasn’t a night to remember with Livingston running out 2-0 winners at Pittodrie.
