Caravan site plan sparks visitor worries
A man’s application to create a static caravan park near Errol could end up attracting well over 100 more people to the area at busy times, the local community council has heard.
Members of Errol Community Council considered Rod Sim’s application to add 20 caravans to the Silverwoods Lodges site at Inchcoonans and the impact the proposal could have on residents at their most recent monthly meeting.
One attendee said they believed each caravan could accommodate up to six people and worked out that could mean as many as 120 extra people might end up occupying the area and travelling to and from the site in the future.
And vice chair Roger Humphrey pointed to the absence of a proper pathway between the site and Errol as a potential problem.
“We just don’t have a proper path between the bottom of Loan Brae ... and the actual site itself,”he said.
One member of the public who attended the meeting has now filed a detailed objection to the proposal being passed.
Philip Burgess told ECC members last month he felt the development would “completely change the character”of Inchcoonans.
He has since told PKC planners:“No amount of screening of the site will hide the effect on the environment and the small community of Inchcoonans of a doubling of buildings in the area and the extra noise created by 120 extra residents/ holidaymakers.”
And although the community council opted to remain neutral when it considered the application it has since sent a letter to PKC asking officials to carefully consider the development’s impact on Inchcoonans when deciding whether or not to approve it.
ECC told PKC in a letter dated February 3:“The impact this will have on the residents of Inchcoonans has not been addressed in the application. There are only 10 residencies, many of which are only double occupancies.
“Whichever ownership path is taken for the lodges, there needs to be consideration made regarding the intrusion large numbers of guests will have on the small local community.”
The application awaits a decision from PKC planners.
