- KATHRYN ANDERSON

A date has been set for the Almond and

Earn by-election.

The poll comes following the death of SNP Almond and Earn councillor Henry Anderson.

Perth and Kinross Council has announced voters will be able to cast their vote on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

A PKC spokesperson said:“Under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 the returning officer is required to fill vacancies within three months of them occurring.

“Taking into consideration the current public health advice around the control of coronavirus, the returning officer’s proposal is to hold the by-election on March 25, 2021.

“There will be further reviews of the situation as we approach the date to ensure that the by-election can be held while protecting the health of voters, staff, candidates and other stakeholders.”

Methven Bowling Club, Fowlis Wester Hall, Madderty Hall, Findo Gask Public Hall, Ruthvenfield Primary School, Bridge of Earn Public Hall, Forgandenny Village Hall and Williamson Hall in Abernethy have been listed by PKC as the polling stations.

Nominations to represent the Almond and Earn ward must be submitted to Perth and Kinross Council by 4pm on Monday, February 22, 2021.
