It’s ‘a little ray of sunshine’ for Sheila

-

Sheila West (67), from Auchterarder, was delighted to receive the first dose of the vaccine last week.

Leaving the Dewars Centre, she described the feeling as “a little ray of sunshine after an awful lot of darkness”.

Sheila added: “It’s something positive that is happening.

“My partner has already been vaccinated - he is a few years older than me - so I’m delighted to be able to start to feel a bit safer once we get through the process.”

She was very impressed with the smooth process from the moment she entered the car park.

“It was very slick and I was impressed from the very first sign you see pointing you in from the road,” Sheila explained.

“Everyone has been very pleasant and polite. It has obviously all been well-thought through. So a well done to all the people involved.”

The vaccine offers light at the end of the tunnel and there is hope that restrictions may be eased in the not too distant future. Sheila is looking forward to returning to normality and said: “First of all getting a hug from family and seeing the grandchildren.

“And then maybe getting somewhere sunny! I don’t think that will happen this year but never mind.

“I think we’re still in for the long haul but this is a nice stepping stone.”

Fellow Auchterarder resident Ian White (65) also received the first dose of the vaccine last week.

He was impressed with the Dewars Centre set-up and is looking forward to the day when he can travel further afield.

“It was very smooth and I’m relieved it’s done,” Ian said. “I’ve been waiting a wee while so I’m pleased to get it in the middle of February.

“It was straight-forward and worked well on this scale.’’
