Begger kicked manager when asked to move

- COURT REPORTER

Customers at a Perth supermarket complained about a woman begging at the store entrance and not adhering to the current coronavirus social distancing guidelines.

And when the store manager twice asked her to move on, she refused and threw the contents of a bottle of water over his trousers.

Rostas Narcisa then kicked him on the leg, Perth Sheriff Court was told.

The incident led to the 19-year-old, of Fechney Park, Perth, being ordered to pay £300 compensation to the staff member.

She admitted assaulting Robin Miller at the Lidl supermarket in Riggs Road, Perth, on February 8, 2021.

Part of the charge which alleged that she nipped him on the body was deleted.

Depute fiscal Lisa Marshall said complaints were received by Mr Miller just before noon.

“He went outside and politely asked her to move on.

“She refused - and even when advised police would be contacted, she still refused to move.

“Fifteen minutes later, Mr Miller again went outside and asked her to move on but the request was again ignored.”

Narcisa then reached into a bag, retrieved a bottle of water and sprayed the contents onto Mr Miller’s legs.

“She then approached him and hit him on the shins,” added the fiscal.

“Mr Miller, and a colleague who was with him, returned to the store and contacted the police.”

Officers attended, arrested the accused and took her to Perth Police HQ.

Solicitor David Sinclair said she and her partner had been in the UK for five years but had only been in Perth a short time.

She did not have a job but was due to start at a produce factory in Inchture later that day, where her partner is employed.

“She didn’t take the request to move on particularly well and wishes to apologise to the staff member”

Sheriff Neil Bowie told her: “This behaviour was totally unacceptable.”

He admonished her on the charge but imposed the compensation order, payable at £10 a week, starting on February 26.
