Poor progress lands man behind bars

- COURT REPORTER

A vindictive Perth man, previously spared jail after sending an intimate photograph of a female to her mother, has been given two months behind bars.

Details of the ‘revenge porn’ incident emerged as part of a 16-day stalking campaign carried out by 22-year-old Kyle Sandilands, now of Strathtay Road.

He had initially been ordered to carry out a Community Payback Order but subsequently completed less than a third of the 220 hours of unpaid work.

He was then put on Right Track, a scheme designed to keep young offenders on the straight and narrow.

Lawyer David Holmes told Perth Sheriff Court that the work aspect of the project had been “good” but accepted the supervision part had “not gone well”.

Imposing the jail term, backdated to Tuesday of last week, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told the accused: “Sadly the (progress) report which I have is far from glowing

“It may be that an element behind that has been the environment which we have all been operating under for the past 11 months.

“But is seems to me this matter should be brought to an end.”

The court heard previously that the accused threatened to stab the victim and kick her door in before pelting her bedroom window with eggs in the early hours.

He then sent the mum the intimate picture of her daughter.

As well as the unpaid work, Sandilands had a two-year non-harassment order imposed, banning him from contacting the female.
