Men deny attacking another and scarring him for life

-

Two men have denied attacking another man with a knife - and scarring him for life - at a house in Alyth.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the town’s Beech Court on April 1, 2019.

Thirty-two-year-old Ross Thomson, of Morrison Terrace, Alyth, and Mark Thomson (44), of Uist

Place, North Muirton, Perth, had a further pre-trial hearing set for March 18 at Perth Sheriff Court.

They were represented by local lawyers Pauline Cullerton and Steve Lafferty respectively when the indictment against them was called last week (February 11).

The pair are said to have assaulted another man by repeatedly kicking him on the body and repeatedly striking him on the body with the blade, or similar implement, to his severe injury and to his permanent disfigurement.

Mark Thomson also faced two further charges. It is alleged that between March 31 and April 1, 2019, at the Alyth Hotel, Commercial Street, and at the property in Beech Court, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing and repeatedly attending, uninvited, at the home of Daniel Cook.

It is also claimed that on April 1, at the Beech Court property, he assaulted the alleged victim by repeatedly punching him to the head.
