Make sure to keep it simple

-

With milder weather finally upon us, this could be the first weekend of 2021 that we are able to get out for a round of golf.

It may or may not be on summer greens, but it would be great to be able to get back out for a swing.

With this in mind and due to the fact that it has been many weeks since we have been out on the course, this week we are going to keep things simple.

It’s going to be all about rhythm and tempo.

Following a long break the chances are that your timing is not going to be at its best. If you start to have technical swing thoughts on top of this, then it could spell disaster.

When you are out playing, I want you to have just two simple swing thoughts. Firstly, you should concentrate on making a smooth turn to the top of your backswing, feeling the shoulders and arms moving together (pics 1 and 2).

Secondly, focus on making a full and complete follow through. Do not try to hit at the ball, but instead think about swinging through as fully as you can and don’t be afraid to commit (pic 3).

By taking your swing thought away from hitting the ball and more onto the completion of the movement, this should make for a much more consistent impact.

If you do get out for a game this weekend, above all else make sure that you enjoy it and have some fun.
