Sheriff refuses bail for man who was carrying knife

A man remanded in custody since January 5 has been refused bail at Perth Sheriff Court.

Thomas Brown (28), of Greenbank Road, Glenfarg, will be sentenced on March 17 after background reports have been prepared.

He admitted having a knife in his possession on the A90, Dundee-Perth road, near Inchmichael, on October 5.

He also pled guilty to stealing electric cable and associated fittings and tools after entering a vehicle at Redgorton Garage on September 28 last year. In addition, he also flouted a 7pm to 7am curfew condition imposed as part of an October 15 bail order.

The court was told that he breached bail on November 28.

Rejecting a bail bid on behalf of Brown, Sheriff Foulis told the accused:

“I consider it’s still appropriate to remand you in custody. I consider there’s a significant risk of you re-offending and you were also in a significant position of trust while on bail.”

A community justice social work and psychiatric reports were ordered.
