Comedy night to help lift lockdown gloom
Top acts are set to lift any lingering lockdown gloom during a virtual comedy gig organised by a Perthshire charity.
Auchterarder Parents Supporting Parents (APSP) is behind the Lockdown Laughter Comedy Night, which will be hosted by Des McLean from 8pm on Friday this week.
Other acts on the bill include Scott Bennett, Ray Bradshaw and Viv Gee.
All four have won multiple awards, both on the Scottish comedy scene and further afield.
Tickets have been priced at £10 per household and are available via the Eventbrite website.
A spokesperson for APSP, which seeks to offer support and advice to local families who may be experiencing challenges in various spheres, said:“We’ve managed to secure four award-winning Scottish comedians for the evening and anyone can join us from their front room on Zoom.
“A little bit of laughter will be just the medicine many people need and, let’s face it, we don’t have much else on our social calendars at the moment!”
Meanwhile, APSP is also offering online advice sessions for parents following a recent survey.
Part of a series called‘Surviving Lockdown 2.0’, the next one takes place from 6.30-8pm on Wednesday, March 3, with Gail Penman and is titled‘Screen and Technology Time’.
The spokesperson continued:“We offer support and advice to local families who may be experiencing challenges.
“We are dealing with many subject matters such as dyslexia, autism, dyspraxia, ADHD, eating disorders, mental health, anxiety and other issues.
“We support families by signposting them to the right place for information and support, as well as organising specific events and workshops with expert guest speakers.
“Although we are a local charity, since COVID we have moved our services online and achieved a much broader reach and we recently carried out a survey to find out what parents want and need at this strange time.”
