Guy Melamed will not mind if the performance is amazing or atrocious – as long as St Johnstone lift the cup.

The Israeli striker is in confident mood ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Livingston after netting twice against Motherwell last weekend.

Melamed, who was an unused substitute for the semi-final win against Hibs, would love to fire Saints to League Cup glory at Hampden.

“It’s a great opportunity and I believe in the team,” he said this week.

“We have really good confidence in ourselves after a great run. We come into the game in good shape.

“I don’t mind how we play – if we play nice or ugly.

“I just want to win and this is the only thing that matters in a cup game.”

The 28-year-old has impressed whenever called upon by manager Callum Davidson and has provided both goals and assists.

Melamed added: “I feel very, very good. I feel confident in my team-mates and believe they also have confidence with me.

“I feel more involved in the games and that makes me very happy.

“That was my target when I came in.

“I just want to help my friends on the pitch. If we take the trophy, it will be amazing.”
