Japan date for musician Scarlet
A headline Perth drag queen and musician has been selected to perform as part of an international music industry conference based in Japan.
Scarlet Skylar Rae will be performing two online sessions as part of the Kansai Music Conference (KMC) festival in the autumn.
An official live acoustic promotional video for the event will be released on May 21 by Kansai Music Conference and she will also be performing a live streamed session during the festival between September 16–19.
The Kansai Music Conference will take place in the city of Osaka and has established itself as a prestigious annual global event ever since it first launched in
2009.
The three-day festival will consist of panels from leading figures in the Japanese music industry, networking sessions and live streamed performances from a small selection of Japanese and international artists.
KMC has maintained the theme of“Building Bridges with Music” and has built a global community of musicians and artists with the common goal of enhancing the Japanese music scene by introducing cultural diversity through music.
In 2021, The Kansai Music Conference will also be a part of the wider Tokyo Olympics fringe programme.
This latest invite adds to local celebrity Scarlet’s series of recent success over the past 12 months, including her recent St Johnstone unofficial cup song ‘Come on You Saints’, representing Scotland at Global Pride 2020 and her mainstage international performance at West Australian Pride after she set up the Perth to Perth Pride Partnership.
Drag queen performer Scarlet said: “I am delighted to be saying konichiwa to Kansai and arigato to Osaka.
“The Kansai Music conference is all about building bridges and I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to broadcast to new audiences in Japan while the worlds eyes are watching the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.”
