Popular hotel put on market for £1.25m
A once-popular Perth hotel that managers decided to close for good last year has been put on sale for £1.25 million.
The Queens Hotel in Leonard Street shut last March and never reopened after bosses declared the business was no longer viable because of the coronavirus crisis and the ensuing lockdowns and restrictions.
The six-storey 51-bedroom property is ideally situated for visitors and holidaymakers as it sits almost opposite the city’s train station and is just over the road from the bus station too.
The building also has a lounge/bar, a restaurant, conference rooms, a function suite, a pool and gym, a private car park and two garages.
The PA reported last year how staff put on furlough following the very first lockdown had been hoping to return to their roles one day but were notified by email in October they were being made redundant.
The email from Broxden Business Parkbased 7 Hospitality Management, seen by the PA, said: “COVID-19 is continuing to have a detrimental impact on the hotel, and the increased government restrictions and measures, along with the second wave of coronavirus, has meant that it is not viable for the hotel to reopen.
“The business is therefore proposing for a full permanent closure.
“This means that unfortunately, the business has no other option but to propose redundancies following a full closure of the hotel.”
Property consultants Graham and Sibbald have now brought the boardedup building onto the market on behalf of its owners and are currently accepting enquiries and offers.
The company says of the hotel in a statement published online: “The Queens Hotel is an eye-catching and commanding building with a prominent roadside position, and the hotel has been a wellestablished hotel facility on the Perth scene for many, many years and enjoys patronage to its range of bar, catering, function, conference, bedroom and leisure facilities from a wide range of customers - locals, commercial, tourists and visitors alike.
“Located close to Perth city centre and ideally located almost opposite Perth Railway Station providing direct rail links to London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness, the hotel is also alongside Perth Bus Station.
“Along with the hotel’s private car park almost all modes of transport are catered for with the hotel’s position.”
