an organised and disciplined display to defeat Hibs 1-0 at Easter Road. Cup quarter-final hero Zander Clark missed out in the capital with a toe injury but Davidson expects his number one to return at Hampden.

“I wouldn’t read too much into the games ahead of the semi-finals,” Davidson told the PA. “But we came through it unscathed.

“Everyone is fine and hopefully Zander will be back as well.

“All of us are motivated. There is no Old Firm in the semi-finals so that brings motivation.

“We’ve got the same attitude. We can’t think too much about what St Mirren will do. We will prepare right.

“Hopefully winning the Betfred Cup already gives us further motivation.

“Realistically the pressure is not really on us because we’ve already won a major trophy this year.”

Midfielder Murray Davidson missed out on that major trophy the Betfred Cup in February - due to injury but returned to action at Hibs. With another week of training under his belt, he will be raring to go for the Scottish Cup crunch with the Buddies.

“We were patient with Murray and wanted to make sure he was right and ready,” Saints boss Davidson stressed.

“We’re delighted we’re in the semi-final and that there are things to play for before the end of the season.

“Murray is going to be a real important part of the team going forward.

“He is a good professional on the training pitch. He does everything right and sets standards.

“Even during his injury he was always about. He is always the first in and last away. He is always there.

“It’s good to have him about the place and back available.

“The 10 or 15 minutes was a good length of time for him on Saturday and now he’ll train hard this week.

“That will be him ready for selection on Sunday.”
