IT cuts threat to Aviva staff

-

Employees at Aviva Perth could be affected by a company-wide plan to cut its IT workforce.

The investment company, which employs 16,000 people in the UK, says around 115 colleagues will be impacted across its UK sites.

The staff members will be made redundant or redeployed elsewhere.

No redundancies or redeployment methods were confirmed for the site at Pitheavlis, however, a spokesperson believes there will be a“small” impact.

The move is seen as a chance to increase outsourcing as the company attempts to adjust to the pandemic.

In January Aviva announced closures of offices across the UK, alongside plans to allow staff to work from home beyond COVID restrictions.

A spokesperson for

Aviva said:“We have reviewed the structure of the teams in IT responsible for digital engineering and platforms, in order to better deliver on our new strategy and to support the new shape of the Aviva business.

“We have identified opportunities to automate certain processes and increase outsourcing.

As a result of moving to the new structure, around 115 colleagues will be impacted. We will look to minimise redundancies through redeployment where possible. Our priority is to support our people, and discussions are underway with all those affected.

“The impacts will be across a number of our UK sites.

“We are working through what this means for individuals in the teams affected, but believe the impacts in Perth will be small.”
