Mental health survey report due this month

- MELANIE BONN

A survey to discover ‘lived experiences’ of mental health services offered by NHS Tayside has gathered all its responses and is advancing towards the next stage.

The Tayside Mental Health Survey commissioned by PLUS Perth, Angus Voice, Dundee Healthy Minds Network and members of the stakeholder participation group closed at the end of April.

Susan Scott, development manager from PLUS Perth, explained: “The data from over 400 respondents is being analysed, and we anticipate a public report will be completed by the end of May.

“The reason for the survey was to provide evidence to Dr Strang (chair of the Independent Inquiry into Mental Health Services in Tayside), who has returned to evaluate how much his recommendations in the independent inquiry report Trust and Respect, have been taken forward.

“The mental health survey findings will be published on the PLUS website immediately following its completion.

“We wish to thank the people of Tayside once again for their willingness to share their experiences of mental health services.

“Without their involvement we would not be in the position of having such valuable and extremely helpful evidence.”
