A Perth art gallery is gearing up to welcome visitors to a new exhibition of work by a Perthshire-based artist.

Philip Edwards, who lives in Scone with his wife and two children, has work on exhibition at Frames Gallery in Victoria Street from May 8 until June 5.

He is the creator of some remarkable landscapes rendered in pastel and charcoal which have been described as

“wondrous”and capturing“mundane perfection”and the“spirituality of nature’s beauty”.

Frames owner Hugh Goring told the PA: “The precision and skill Philip commands in capturing light and the way it moves in a landscape is quite simply breathtaking, and we are delighted to present a solo exhibition of his exceptional work.

“We warmly welcome people to the gallery to view this outstanding collection first hand, whether it be in the mundane perfection of a lone tree in a field or the awesome spectacle of sunlight bursting across the Scottish Highlands from behind the clouds.

“I was fortunate enough to come across Edwards’work at his degree show, at Edinburgh College of Art (where he obtained an MA (Hons) in fine art) in 2003, and we have been exhibiting his work ever since.

“Over the years he has shown throughout the UK, as well as New York, and amongst winning many awards, has also reached the semi-finals of the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2016.

“Now based in Scone, where he lives with his young family, we have the pleasure of seeing him often and watching his ability develop and expand.”

Frames Gallery at 10 Victoria Street is open Monday to Friday 9am-5.30 pm and Saturday 9.30am- 5pm, is free to visit and has COVID-19 protocols in place for public safety.
