Manwho flouted curfew sworeat sheriff

A Perth man who flouted a bail curfew order shouted and swore at the sheriff after being remanded in custody while a background report is prepared.

Thirty-year-old Nathan Taylor had been freed following an earlier Perth Sheriff Court appearance but was restricted to his home in the city’s Kestrel Way from 7pm-7am.

But police on patrol in Perth High Street saw him walking along Skinnergate at 2am and he was arrested, depute fiscal Bill Kermode told the court.

Taylor appeared from custody on Wednesday and admitted breaching the court order on May 5, 2021, after being freed on bail on April 13.

Solicitor Paul Ralph said: “He candidly admits curfews are not his favourite thing.”

The accused is subject to a community payback order, with a review of his progress scheduled for next month.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said because Taylor is subject to the order, a background report would be needed before he could be sentenced.

Remanding him meantime until May 26, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “There is a significant risk of you reoffending and you were in a position of trust.”

As the accused was led away, he could be heard shouting expletives.
