WORKING FOR YOU IN PERTHSHIRE IT business with rural base has global reach

Security and satellites part of Flonix’s wide portfolio

-

Perthshire IT business Flonix is a prime example of a 21st century company putting into practise what it preaches.

From its rural base at Redgorton, it manages operations to its other offices throughout the UK – in Edinburgh, Manchester and London.

And its impressive client list extends much further afield with its services in demand around the world.

In many respects the company is an organisation of its time – using stateof-the-art technology to solve global problems from its rural Perthshire base.

Flonix was established by Daniel Lamb in 2008, when he was 22 years old. Daniel remains at the helm of the company which now offers flexible IT support, professional IT project delivery and expert IT advice. The business has grown exponentially, going from strength to strength during its 13 years of trading.

A particular focus is on making sure rural businesses have good internet connectivity and a speciality is making this happen via 3G or 4G external aerials connected to internal routers to boost signals and provide the best connection possible. Traditional line of sight wireless links can be used to provide GB speeds up to 15km.

And its fibre cabling installation over several kilometres ensures even the most remote home business can have the capability of excellent communications – something vital in the COVID era where the rise in home offices and reliance on meeting platforms such as Zoom have become vital.

Flonix is also well-positioned to be at the forefront of Starlink satellite technology when it arrives in the UK. Once it becomes fully operational, Starlink will offer internet access from virtually anywhere on the planet. Elon Musk’s Starlink effort aims to launch thousands of small satellites into low Earth orbit. They will then be able to transmit fast internet signals down to Earth.

A further Flonix speciality is security. So many businesses – large and small - are being targeted for ransomware attacks, spoofing emails and hacks.

The team at Flonix works hard to stay abreast of new threats and be aware of the common attacks taking place, so that it can ensure its customers’ systems are secure. It also runs training programs for clients and has a large number of cheat sheets for customers to help keep staff right and safe online, avoiding any attacks.

Daniel’s work ethic has resulted in a growing reputation in the UK and throughout the world. Through excellent knowledge of IT systems and a trusting relationships with customers, Flonix has established a strong and growing customer base, mainly due to word of mouth recommendations.

In recent years, Flonix has seen a steep increase for demand for its various IT services to an international market from businesses in London, Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada and various states in America. Its clients range from large companies, including one that required phone systems connecting its group’s offices in Bulgaria and New Jersey, to small home-based sole traders and Daniel enjoys the challenge and diversity.

He and his team demonstrate their determination to excel and successfully deliver round-the-clock work to suit the various needs of customers in different time zones as well as their Perth and UK customers.

Flonix excels in delivering a fast, reliable and accountable service to its clients and takes a unique and flexible approach to IT, which is determined by its clients’ business needs. By providing cost effective solutions, it can operate as the client’s IT department, or add to an existing

IT resource within the company. Its workforce is highly-trained professionals who have the expertise to assess, repair and maintain any PC, server, network or Apple Macintosh system.

Flonix enjoys many well-established relationships with local customers including Binn Group, GS Brown and St Johnstone who have also assisted the company as it has grown.

Flonix has been a member of the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce for many years and Daniel credits the organisation with helping him secure valuable business. In 2019 Flonix became the chamber’s technology partner and manages its Business Star Awards and Perthshire On A Plate websites.

Daniel said: “Being a member of the Perthshire Chamber has brought us a lot of business and contacts who continue to help us grow and we are delighted to work in partnership with them.”
