Bryson extends his stay

-

Good news arrived for St Johnstone fans over the weekend when midfielder Craig Bryson penned a new one-year deal.

The 34-year-old has fitted in nicely at McDiarmid Park and his experience has proved valuable in a number of games this season.

While not a regular starter throughout the season, whenever called upon he has not let manager Callum Davidson down.

Bryson recently performed well in the club’s Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren and put in another good shift in difficult circumstances against Celtic on Wednesday evening.

He is looking forward to an exciting finish to the Premiership season this weekend.

“I’m very settled here and enjoying my football,”Bryson said.“The team has been doing very well and it was great to hear that the manager and the board wanted me to stay.

“The club has made me feel very welcome from day one and the dressing room has a brilliant team spirit.

“I look forward to next season but, before that, we have massive games to play. We also have fifth place in the Premiership to fight for.

“It’s going to be an exciting and challenging period. But we are all ready for it.”

Perth boss Davidson was thrilled to keep hold of Bryson, a player who has operated at a high level south of the border with Derby County.

“Craig brings a wealth of experience to us on and off the park,”Davidson said. “He sets high standards every day and it’s great to know we will have him next season.

“I wanted him to sign a new contract and I’m delighted it has all been sorted out. It’s great news.

“It’s very encouraging to be getting some of the squad signed up on new contracts.”
