Eighth birthday was a moving experience

-

Established in 2013, Caledonia Removals has just celebrated its eighth birthday.

Tam Lindsay and Kyle Mowat, the owners, are both local Perth men who attended Perth High School.

Their company has amassed over 360 five-star reviews across a variety of platforms during their eight-year tenure in business.

It all started with one Luton van where Tam and Kyle undertook all the removals themselves working long hours to build the reputation of the company.

It was not long before they hired their first member of staff in Matthew Esdale who is now operations manager for the company. Over the next few years, they continued to add staff and vehicles and build on their stellar reputation.

Caledonia Removals now has 13 full time staff, six vehicles and two storage sites offering a variety of services locally as well as full UK coverage. The company specialises in the movement of grand pianos, long case clocks and a host of antiquities.

A spokesperson said: “We are experts in full professional house packs and regularly complete full export wraps for our clients ensuring complete safety for their goods during transit to their new homes.

“As standard on every move, we bring and lay floor protection throughout the house. We provide specialist removal covers for all soft furnishings, including mattresses, sofas and armchairs. Our team is equipped with bespoke covers for televisions and artwork.

“Our storage sites are based at Scone Aerodrome and on the North Muirton Industrial Estate. These comprise of a combination of metal shipping containers and specialist removal crates offering flexibility, security and value for money. This gives our clients full peace of mind that their worldly possessions are safe whilst under our care.

“At our site based on the North Muirton Industrial Estate, you will find a fully stocked box shop where a host of materials are sold to clients who are completing the move themselves. Our box shop includes a variety of cardboard boxes, wardrobe cartons, bubble wrap, vinyl tape and packing paper.

“Over the next year we will have our first lorry on the road, as well as taking on our third storage site in Perth to keep up with the increased demand. We are planning to increase our staffing levels and continue to develop our staff’s skillset so they can move into more advanced roles within the business.”

Tam and Kyle are both firm believers in giving back to the local community.

Over the years, the company has dedicated days to Letham Climate Challenge, Perth Community Farm and Crieff Food Bank, as well as completing voluntary days to clear snow for the most vulnerable within Perth’s care homes.

The business also selects a charity to support every quarter.
